Traffic Count

All road intersections along the trail, in all towns

In support of the ongoing Feasibility Study by the Boston Metropolitan Planning Office (MPO), BCRT is conducting a traffic count at all road crossings of the proposed trail.
The traffic count will happen on Saturday, August 13, from 10am to 11am.

- Harding and Farm St in Medfield, possibly Ice House Road if there is extra capacity)
- Hunt, Springdale/Dedham St, Haven St in Dover
- Fisher and Charles River in Needham

The goal for each person/team is to provide a total count for each of 3 categories (vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists) in both directions.

Come join a discussion about a proposal to convert the abandoned railroad tracks into a pedestrian and bicyclefriendly path. The tracks run roughly parallel to Needham St. from behind National Lumber, past Marshall's Plaza, across Oak St, and all the way to the Charles River. A spur of the tracks crosses Needham St., curves around behind theindustrial buildings on the east side, and crosses the Charles River and the existing Charles River Pathway. Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC) Medfield Kids Ride

The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC) Medfield Kids Ride will be held on Sunday, June 20 beginning at Medfield High School at 9:00am.  This is one of 35 local races being held that day and more than 6,000 cyclists ages 2-16 are expected to participate.

What is the proposed Bay Colony Rail Trail?

The Bay Colony Rail Trail project aims to convert the abandoned rail corridor between Needham and Medfield to a new multi-use greenway. The path will provide a safe and natural facility for hiking, walking, running, biking, cross-country skiing, and other recreational activities.
The proposed trial will extend for 7 miles through the towns of Needham, Dover and Medfield.  (See map.)
